THURSDAY WINE SMACKDOWN

The THURSDAY WINE SMACKDOWN is a head-to-head challenge where YOU, the wine drinker, will decide the ultimate victor in an evening?s main event. Each bout will feature two wines of the same variety ?one from Lodi?s Finest and one from a European region- in a winner-take-all event. The wines will be paired with a complimentary appetizer that will bring out the subtle characteristics of the wines. Attendees will choose the winner by vote and to the victor goes the spoils! Except for the appetizers and the tastings. Those are all yours. SAY CHEESE! The third match of the THURSDAY WINE SMACKDOWN features 2013 Viognier paired with a variety of French cheeses and fruits! Selected to showcase the wines as well as make any cheese-lover grin from ear to ear, the cheese selection for this event is a mix of foreign and domestic, soft and hard, strong and subtle. If you love cheese, this is the place for you to be this Thursday! Europe once again enters the fray with the Lurton Domaine Salice Viognier, a white wine of substance. The tropical fruit nose is a nice contrast to the low acidity of the wine, making it a crowd-pleaser. Not to be outdone, Peirano Estate Vineyards offers its Viognier up for approval. Tropical fruits as well as the light scent of ginger on the nose, this well-balanced white provides the lush taste of apples, pears, and a hint of orange marmalade. See you at the bell!
