Pacific Coast Producers, a leading private-label food processor with several locations in Northern California, has openings for Electrician Apprentice for its Processing Plants in California. These are full-time, collective bargaining positions requiring work on various shifts and a great deal of overtime in the summer months. Positions have full responsibility under the Superintendent, Supervisor, or Head Electrician for the efficient operation, maintenance, repair, and safety of all plant electrical power distribution, lighting and equipment; and will also: PRIMARY DUTIES: 1. Layout of electrical circuits. 2. Make up material and parts lists. 3. Do maintenance wiring, installation of motors, switches, switch panels, fuse boxes, lighting, testing & power circuits. 4. Generate parts lists (Bills-Of-Material) for assigned jobs, and write-up Purchase Requisitions as required or directed. 5. Installation, connection, adjustment and calibration of electrical gauges and recording instruments. 6. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. 7. Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, or test lamps. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using these testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety of system. 8. Must possess demonstrable skills for specifying and properly sizing wire, conduit, circuit breakers & fuses per NEC. 9. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams. 10. Must demonstrate ability to inspect motors, switches, junction boxes, switch panels, circuit breakers, transformers; fuse panels, lighting, heating and power circuits to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with all applicable codes. Make preventive and running repairs and corrections as required. 11. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. 12. Observe all company's safety rules, policies and procedures. 13. Shall perform all duties in compliance with customer, 3rd party, regulatory, and company food safety and quality initiatives and standards. 14. Perform other duties as assigned SECONDARY DUTIES: 1. May repair and maintain other cannery equipment, rewind motors, and requisition replacement parts. 2. May check time and production cards and maintain any necessary records associated with the position. 3. May oil, grease, clean and do maintenance painting. 4. May assist Controls Technicians in their tasks, and assist other mechanics in General Maintenance. 5. May supervise or relieve other jobs as needed; such as sub-supervisors, machine operators, and/or crews. 6. Responsible for the clean up of his/her and machine, including good housekeeping practices.
